Motor Attachments

Over the years customers have asked us if the Skutt/Thomas Stuart kickwheel motor kit will work on Randall kickwheels. We had casually heard that it would, but we had never seen it done, and we did not know if there were any problems, limitations or work-arounds.

Recently one of our customers decided to go for it and purchased the motor kit for her Randall wheel. She has reported back that the kit worked quite well. She says....

"I purchased a motor from you that was made for the Thomas Stuart wheel, and I promised to let you know if that motor worked on my Randall wheel. I'm happy to let you know that it worked just fine. The original Randall motor moves the flywheel by running the rubber piece across the top of the cement flywheel, and the Thomas Stuart goes around the edge of the cement flywheel, but it seems to work fine, and it was easy to attach. The only adjustment I made was that I removed the horizontal bar that apparently used to hold the original motor. Other than that, it fit right on there. It vibrates a bit as it gets up to speed, and I think that's because the cement flywheel is not perfectly round, but the motor bracket seems to flex a bit to accommodate that issue." - Thanks Lee!
