Olympic DownDraft Gas Kilns

DD24 - all fiber

Olympic DownDraft Gas Kilns are front loading and built of
board, fiber and brick insulation. Multiple venturi
burners give even heat distribution to Cone 10 on low-pressure
propane or natural gas with minimal maintenance. Gas flow
and reduction are easily controlled from the front of the kiln.
An ignition systems with thermocouple safety shut-off, gas
pressure gauge, heavy welded hinges, and an adjustable door
support wheel are standard. Options include electronic
controller, pyrometer, kiln sitter. Stainless steel
jackets are now standard.
Olympic designs are durable and efficient, but a special
feature of all our commercial kilns is the easy disassembly for
repair or maintenance when that becomes necessary.

Firing chamber is surrounded in 1" steel tubing which keeps
outer surfaces cooler
Olympic approximates that to achieve a cone 10
firing, you will use one gallon of LPG, per every cubic foot of
kiln volume (setting space), (i.e. The 14.5 cu ft DD14 will
consume approximately 14.5 cu ft of LPG for cone 10.)

| The largest DD model that can fit on a
liftgate is the DD14. For DD17 and up you will need a
forklift or loading dock.

Gas Kiln Sitter System -
The kiln sitter provides an automatic shut-off when the kiln reaches a
specified cone temperature. The limit timer will shut the kiln off at a
preset time. An electric valve runs the gas kiln sitter. Requires
a 120 volt outlet. |

Pyrometer -
An analog pyrometer is an available option for measuring temperature of
the kiln while firing. Pyrometers should be wall mounted away from the
kiln to prevent damage to the instrument. Olympic's analyog pyrometer is rated
0-2500F. Digital pyrometer can only read to 2000F but can go

120 Volt Electronic
Controller - Olympic's electronic wall
unit features programming by cone number or allows you to create your
own programs. Each program has eight segments with ramp/hold profiles
and controlled cooling rate. The controller also features numerous means
for diagnosing problems and convenient program review before or during a
firing. Because the electronic controller runs in an on/off mode
and is not proportional, the gas kiln operator will need to manually
adjust the gas flow several times as the kiln reaches 1500F, when the
controller can fully automate the firing. Includes valves necessary for controlling
gas flow. (Requires purchase of ignition system.) |

Blower Burner

- The vents measure 48" x 48". Vents shipped with a kiln are palletized
separately and have an approximated shipping weight of 172 lbs. You will
need to purchase a double or triple walled exhaust pipe 10" in
