Duncan CoverCoat Underglaze
For solid-color, 3-coat coverage on greenware. Some colors may
also be applied to bisque (check label.) Cover-Coats fire to an opaque,
porous matte finish. A clear glaze finish is used to seal the porous
surface and to brighten the underglaze colors. Colors may be tinted
with E-Z Strokes or other Cover-Coats. Apply 3 coats, fire to cone 04.
Colors shine with polishing technique which is done by completing
application, mixing a further quantity of the color half and half with water,
and applying to small sections of the piece at a time. Just as the wet
look disappears, polish briskly with a soft cloth. Overlap each area as
you go until finished to a satin sheen. After firing this surface will be
water resistant but not waterproof.
Glazes with Zinc can cause discoloration of
underglazes. Use of Zinc-free covering glazes is recommended.
