Easy-Fire and Liberty
Belle: L&L changed the size of their elements around October
2004. The older elements were 3/8" diameter, while the newer
ones are 1/2" diameter. Measure the opening of your element
holders. The "small" ones are clearly less than 1/2"
(about 1/16" less). The "large" ones are clearly
larger than 1/2" (1/16" larger.)

Jupiter: For the Jupiter kilns,
there are four types of elements representing improvements made over the
years. The first change was in January 1996 when they started using
a slightly enlarged holder. Then between June 2004 and October 2004,
they introduced an even larger holder. Those redesigned element
holders have a larger opening for the element to be inserted into.
The back of the element holder remains the same so it fits in the same
routed groove.
Standard-small (will fit any Jupiter, Econo-Kiln or K Model kiln made)
Heavy-duty-small (will fit the slightly larger holders made after Jan
1996) These have the same wattage as standard small, so the kiln
won't heat faster. But a heavier gauge wire is used with a lower
watt density, so they will last longer.
Standard-large. These take advantage of the 1/2" diameter
size of holders made since mid-2004. Elements increase their
resistance when they get hot which decreases their power output. By reducing
the cold resistance of these elements we can maintain the nominal amperage
and watt ratings of the kilns while increasing the actual power output
while firing. The larger diameter of the elements allowed for a
superior element design as well. Should fit any made after
mid-2004.
Heavy-duty-large. These elements also take advantage of the size
of the newest holder design and the change in resistance when the elements
get hot. In addition, on J2300 kilns, the elements are in series
instead of parallel. This allows for a very thick wire with great
stretch ration and watt density. Can be used in kilns made since
mid-2004.
Measure the opening of your element
holders. The "small" ones are clearly less than 1/2"
(about 1/16" less). The "large" ones are clearly
larger than 1/2" (1/16" larger.) If you have a powered

DaVinci: For the DaVinci kilns,
there are four types of elements. First there are the standard
elements for 27", 36" and 45" high DaVinci's. There
there are the XB and TB high power elements mostly used on 18" high
kilns. In June of 02, a new large holder was introduced. Those
redesigned element holders have a larger opening for the element to be
inserted into. The back of the element holder remains the same so
that it may fit in the same routed groove that is in the firebrick of all
DaVinci kilns. All DaVinci elements are heavy-duty. All are
wired in parallel except the X1800 kilns and 480v Wye elements. Make
sure all the elements in your kiln are of the same style.

elements required for your kiln as follows:
If you model number ends in 18, you need 6 elements. If it ends
in 27, you need 9 elements. If it ends in 36, you need 12 elements.
If it ends in 45, you need 15 elements. If you have a powered
bottom, you need 2 extra elements on the bottom.
