AMACO Low Fire Glaze (Cone 04/06)
|
Amaco
F-Series
F
|
F-Series
glazes are fritted, leadless compositions. They are
semi-opaque and fire with a high gloss. Colors are more
intense and brilliant than those of many other glazes.
Because they are leadless, they are recommended for functional
ware. GREAT FOR SCHOOLS Apply to cone 04
bisque by brushing, dipping or pouring; fire to cone 05. |
Amaco Artists
Choice
A |
Cone
05 oxidation glazes that look like high fired reduction
stoneware. They can be fired over any earthenware clay;
however they look their best over dark or red firing clay.
The color in the clay will partially show through the texture
and add another color dimension to the glaze. These glazes
will look completely different depending on the clay they are
applied on. |
Amaco Gloss
LG |
Bright
Opaque and transparent colors characterize this popular LG Gloss
Glaze series. These glazes flow during firing to a high
gloss while correcting most application defects. Because
of their flexibility, good results can be obtained on many
clays. Some colors contain lead. |

Majolica Gloss
GDC 20% off
|
Majolica
Gloss Decorating Colors have been developed specifically to
produce the Majolica technique. Each of these can be
applied directly over unfired Amaco Opaque White glaze (LG11.)
The special formulation means that no clear covering glaze is
necessary. Colors will fire glossy and assume the smooth
surface of the white base glaze. In addition to the
Majolica technique, these can be used for over all coverage or
to design over the bisque with no additional glaze over or under
it. All are lead free, and have tested dinnerware safe
alone and over Amaco LG11. They will also product
excellent results when used over most of the LG, F, LM and DG
series, but have not been tested for dinnerware safety. In
liquid form all are AP Non-Toxic. Semi-transparent. |
Amaco Deco Gloss
DG |
All
Deco Gloss glazes are Lead Free and totally opaque. The 24
intense colors are perfect for artists creating art deco pieces
including dinnerware, sculpture, table lamps, etc. These
glazes flow very little during firing which also makes them
suitable with Amaco Gloss colors to recreate the Majolica
technique. All are lead free, dinnerware safe, and opaque. |
Amaco Matt
LM |
The
LM Matt Glaze Series is one of the most pleasing for decorative
art pottery. Because these glazes move very little in the
glaze firing, they are excellent for creative design work and
controlled glazing techniques. These glazes are all
non-toxic and dinnerware safe. Most colors are opaque. |
Amaco Opalescent
O
|
Opalescent
Glazes may be used on any clay, but they develop their greatest
opalescence and most interesting textures when applied to red
clay. Most have a high gloss with an iridescence similar
to mother-of-pearl. Best results are achieved with three
or four applications of glaze. On textured ware, the glaze
flows thin on relief and thick in incised areas, giving an added
dimension on the surface. May be used in Raku firing.
May give interesting effects at high temperatures. Opaque and dinnerware safe. |
Amaco Stone
Texture
ST |
A
smooth, unique stone-like surface when fired over a Cone 04
bisque. The ST glaze series flows a little in the firing,
settling in the crevices and towards the bottom of a vertical
surface. Therefore, when applied over a textured surface
they will produce antique-like variations or a weathered and
worn out look on the higher relief areas of the piece. |

Amaco Crystaltex
CTL |
Crystaltex
glazes are for the potter who dares to try something novel.
Multi-color effects can be subtle as with #32, which fires to a
creamy yellow peppered with rich brown, or they can be flashy
like the red, white and blue of #54. No two pieces will
ever be alike, but all will be unique. These liquid glazes
consist of a basic color with the addition of one or more
crystals of contrasting colors.
Crystals fan out on flat horizontal surfaces and run on vertical
pieces. Many are lead free and dinnerware safe.
|
Amaco Alligator
LT
|
With
Textured Alligator Glazes, no two pieces are ever alike due to
the many variations in texture which occur in firing.
Variegated matt textures predominate at the lower firing
temperatures and gloss textures at the higher with a mingling of
matt and gloss between the extremes. Apply to bisque or
greenware by brushing, pouring or dipping. Some are
dinnerware safe and non-toxic. |

Specialty Glazes
CR, L, SP
|
Snowfluff:
A white foaming type
texture glaze and completely matte. It can
be tinted into rich pastel shades. Can be applied over, under or between unfired glazes for
unusual texture combinations.
White Pebble:
Has a pebbly appearance as it breaks up
into a pattern resembling pearl tapioca after firing. Overdrift:
An opaque, frosty white glaze, heavy in
consistency. It is indispensable in combination glaze techniques. It renders a cascade of white
floats when applied over or under a glaze.
White
Crawl:
White Crawl is a glaze that will crawl into irregular and very interesting
patterns when fired. The pattern will very depending on the thickness of
application. A heavier application will result in larger and wider
separations in the surface of the glaze, exposing larger areas of the
background, while a thinner application will result in a smaller, more
delicate pattern.
Lustre and Metallics:
Provide the metallic look
of hard steel and the high brilliance of lustre.
Arroya Glazes:
Textured and produce a unique
carved effect when fired. Designed for use over gloss and matte unfired
glazes, Arroya glazes are best applied with a fully loaded fan blender for
all-over coverage or with a sponge using a pouncing method. |
Amaco
Old World Crackle Glazes
CR |
Formulated to produce a network of
cracks on the fired ware similar to crazing. To emphasize the crackle
after firing, swab the fine lines with colored inks. Recommended for use
on decorative items only as it does not seal the surface of the ware as other
glazes do. They work well for raku too. |
Amaco Glaze
Crystals
|
One
or more colors of crystals can be added to a base glaze for
exciting results. Each piece of pottery is one-of-a-kind,
never to be duplicated. Apply the crystals by placing them
where desired on the piece while the glaze is still wet.
When fired, the crystals flow into the base glaze. |

which can be used up to Cone 5. Each of these can be
applied directly over unfired White glaze (HF11 for high fire.)

to design over the bisque with no additional glaze over or under
it. Semi-transparent. Colors will remain stable at

Sun Strokes Brilliant Underglazes
SS |
Vivid
reds, oranges, yellow and green! Six intense special underglazes
specifically formulated for Cone 06-05 in oxidation and raku
firings—with or without a clear glaze.
Sun Strokes Underglazes have a gloss finish even when fired without the
clear glaze. Therefore if they are applied on the bottom of the
piece, they must be stilted when fired or they will stick to the kiln
shelf. Clear glaze smoothes out and brightens the colors. |
| Amaco Underglaze
LUG
|
Amaco
Liquid Underglaze Decorating Colors are concentrated, opaque colors
recommended for covering large areas quickly, easily and smoothly.
Results are equally effective when the colors are used for detailed
painting, sgraffito decoration, water color effects, free brush
painting, wax resists and mishima decoration. Colors may be brushed on greenware
which is to be bisque fired before applying a covering glaze, or on
mature Cone 04 bisque, then covering glaze applied and fired to maturity
temperature of the clear glaze. Also use for coloring slip or
clay. Non are non-toxic! |
Amaco Velvet Underglaze
V
|
Velvets
are a very versatile, semi-translucent underglaze which offers two
finish possibilities. When left unglazed they have the appearance
of velvet. Or, when glazed with a clear gloss glaze, they have a
soft, satin matt finish. They are rich colors and can be used for all
over coverage similar to an opaque underglaze. Colors may be mixed
together to create unique colors. Use on greenware, then bisque
prior to applying a clear glaze. Or use on bisque with a covering
glaze applied prior to firing. Velvets tolerate a wide firing range, and can
be used on most temperatures and clay bodies. Some colors may fade
at high temperatures (cone 7 and up). When used without a glaze
cover, Velvets should not be used on food or drink containers.
Non-toxic. |

Semi-Moist Underglaze Colors Pan Sets |
Semi-Moist
Underglaze decorating colors are suitable for many types of ceramic
painting. They are especially good for water color effects and
painting of fine detail. The 32 colors are concentrated,
intense and opaque. Additional shades and tints are made by
intermixing. Colors may be brushed on either greenware or
bisqueware. A brush dipped in water lifts the color for
decorating. Further thinning of the water soluble colors prepares
them for transparent water color effects by brushing. Colors are
approximately the same tone before and after firing, so effectiveness of
color combinations and blending can be observed as painting progresses.
Colors dry quickly and may be handled without damage. If applied
to bisque, sponge the first clear coat to avoid smearing. |

Majolica Gloss
GDC 20% off
SALE
|
Majolica
Gloss Decorating Colors for bisque or Majolica. Maybe
applied using Majolica technique, or may be used in a one step
underglaze method: Apply GDC colors directly over Cone 04
bisque to create a design, then apply clear glaze and
fire. There is no need to fire the GDC before applying the
clear glaze. However, clear glaze should be applied by
dipping or by sponging. One coat of GDC will create
translucent designs, or apply 2-3 coats for a more solid
color. |

Water Based, Lead Free Overglaze
WB
|
WB-Series Versa Color is a lead free
series of 16 colors in a convenient water base for application onto lead
free glazes. These easy-to-use, economical overglazes have a
consistency suitable for silk screen printing, stencil, and free brush
decorating methods, as well as china painting. Colors may be
thinned with water. They do not have the unpleasant odor of
volatile solvents, and brushes may be cleaned with water. Color
blending is easy; most colors can be intermixed in all proportions for
additional variety, with the following exceptions: The four gold
containing colors 54 Pink, 56 Red, 52 Lilac, 58 Purple, are fully
intermixable in all proportions between themselves. Mixing which
incorporates other basic colors should be done with the maximum
proportion of gold containing colors in the mix, in order to maintain
the stability of the fired color. Fired to Cone 018-015
(usually on top of already glazed ware), they are semi-opaque with a
brilliant sheen. When applied over matt glazes or on vitrified
bisque, they have a matte finish. Do not use Water Based Overglaze
for decals, use only Oil Based. |
| Amaco
Water Based, Lead Free Opalescent Overglaze WB |
These eight intermixable colors
provide a new aspect of lustrous finishes, compared with the pure gloss
surface of the other Versa Color overglazes. They are opaque and
the opalescent lustre appears three dimensional and seems to come from
the depth of the decorated object. The WB Opalescent colors are
intermixable with each other to produce a wider range of shades.
They should not, however, be mixed with non -opalescent Versa Color or
any other overglaze. Do not use on dinnerware surfaces. |
| Amaco
Oil Based Overglaze OB |
OB-Series Versa Color are ceramic overglaze decorating colors, finely
ground in an oil base. Although developed especially for silk
screen printing on glazed tiles, they are a versatile medium for all
glazed pottery, sculpture, china painting and fired metal enamel
surfaces. They are excellent for making decals. Most colors
may be intermixed for additional variety. Flame, Red, Orange and
Yellow may be mixed together but not with the rest of the series.
The consistency makes them best suited for silk screen printing,
however, they can also be used for stencil and free brush methods when
thinned with turpentine. |
