All Pro-Line Tools are individually made from high carbon knife
quality steel that has been heat treated and quenched in oil to give the
blades maximum hardness and durability. Because high carbon steel
takes and holds a much sharper edge than stainless, they last longer
against even highly-grogged clays and plaster. Handles are
retained by brass ferrules firmly set with industrial adhesive. In
addition, each handle is immersed in an oil resin bath to seal the
handle against water damage and prolong the life of the
tools.

Care & Maintenance.
 | All
high carbon steels will discolor and rust if proper care is not
taken. When not in use the tool should be kept clean and
dry. Simple wipe the tool off after each use. |
| Do not leave
tools soaking in water or slurry for extended periods of time. |
| Periodically applying a light coat of oil to both the steel and wood
handle is recommended. |
| If your Tool, after heavy work,
begins to show signs of becoming dull, it may be resharpened. DO
NOT USE A POWER GRINDER. This will heat the steel, changing the
temper and destroying it. Best sharpening results can be obtained
from using a whetstone (oil or water) and after a few strokes the edge
should be returned to its normal keenness. We also recommend
against using files. |
