Using ITC Coating to Lower Energy Costs and Help Kilns and Elements Last Longer

This little known product, ITC Coating, may cost a bit upfront but it comes with great benefits:

  • lower energy costs

  • faster firings

  • less wear and tear on your kiln

ITC Ceramic products are used for coating the inside of kilns and elements. They radiate and disperse the heat and protect the surfaces they cover.

ITC Coating creates excellent temperature uniformity with high temperature tolerance. It increases heat emissivity and prevents excessive heat loss in all directions. In the nutshell, ITC Coating will increase the refraction of heat. Less heat loss equals less money spent!

ITC Coatings are used in industry applications from commercial ceramics to the space shuttle. Per Nils Lou, the author of "The Art of Firing", the ITC coatings are as technologically significant as the development of the insulating brick.

There are four types of ITC Coating:

ITC 100HT Ceramic Coating

This coating is used to protect kiln interior. It will also minimize glaze sticking on kiln furtinure.

ITC 296A Ceramic Top Coating

This coating is applied over ITC 100HT Ceramic Coating and was developed to minimize impurities in glass kilns, during firing porcelain, jewelry and other molten metal operations. It further enhances kiln performance and increases longevity of electrical elements.
