Working with stable red colors was virtually impossible in the ceramic industry until the Degussa Research and Development department came up with a solution. These fiery colors are difficult to achieve because their oxides tended to burn out and distort upon firing. However, Cerdec-Degussa Inclusion Stains are encapsulated with zirconium-cadmium-selenium crystals which do not melt into the glaze.
Cerdec-Degussa Inclusion Stains hold up to cone 10, even in reduction. These vibrant colors are stable at low and high temperatures and are not very sensitive to reduction. Now artists can produce striking red pieces without worry. Note that glazes using these stains should not be ball milled.
