Olympic Kiln Controllers
Olympic features Bartlett Controller on their kilns.
All three controllers shown here can fire both Ceramics (cone fire) and
Glass (ramp-hold/vary-fire). Generally speaking, the V6-CF is preferred
for ceramics (because of the fast-access cone-fire buttons on the front
panel). The RTC-1000 is preferred for glass (because of the
fast-access Ramp-Hold button). The Model 3K is preferred when a
lower cost system is the priority.
Here is a comparison table that shows the main
feature differences Comparison Table
V6-CF RTC-1000
Model 3K (3-Key)

V6-CF
24-Key Controller
The V6-CF is Bartlett Instrument Company's fifth generation kiln controller.
Each generation has improved the reliability, features and ease-of-use to make Bartlett Instrument Company's kiln controllers the most accepted on the market.
The V6-CF
is compatible with Type K, S, or R thermocouples, operates on a °F or °C
Temperature Scale, features Delay Start, Alarms, error reporting/codes and
transitioning from cone fire to ramp/hold programming. Advanced features of the V6-CF's include 3-zone control
(when configured) and KISS (kiln interface software system, optional) for remote programming and data collection from a personal computer!
The V6-CF
operates in two modes: Ceramic Cone-Fire, and Vary-Fire (Ramp/Hold).
Ceramic
Cone-Fire Mode
With the V6-CF cone-fire method, you select 1 of the 4 firing speeds and your cone number, and you're firing your ceramics with as few as 6 key presses! It's
easy to program, ensures correct heat-work for each cone number and firing rate and
4 firing speeds (Slow Bisque, Fast Bisque, Slow Glaze, Fast Glaze)
Vary-Fire
(Ramp/Hold)
The vary-fire method gives you the freedom to create
and store up to six, 8-step user programs to fire your ceramics, crystalline glazes, glass or jewelry. Other features include delay start, preheat, alarm, cone adjustments, thermocouple adjustments, °F or °C operation, 16 segment program, and skip step.
8 segments per program (each segment has a ramp rate to a temperature, and a soak period)
User can combine User programs 5 and 6 to get a 16 segment program)

RTC-1000 Controller
Very similar
in function as the V6-CF, with less direct access to some of the
features, and more direct access to some glass features. Type K
Thermocouple only.

CONE FIRE METHOD - use when firing to a specific cone number using one
of four speeds, "Slow Bisque", "Fast Bisque",
"Slow Glaze", or "Fast Glaze".
PREHEAT -
Used with CONE FIRE method to hold a temperature of 200 °F for a
specified time prior to starting the firing. This can be used for drying
ware.

3-Key Controller
Has the
same major functions as the V6-CF and the RTC-1000 (above).
More repetitive programming method required (pressing/holding arrow key
to change a setting, instead of directly typing in a number).
Lacks a few features (such as zone control, Type S TC, offset features). Smaller,
lower cost package.
