Heavy duty elements last up to four times longer than most kiln elements
Production kilns are in constant heavy use.  All DaVinci Production Kilns feature special heavy duty elements that use heavy gauge premium Iron-Aluminum-Chrome alloy elements with a very low watt density.  The lower the watts per square inch of element surface area the cooler the elements can run and the longer they last.  DaVinci elements last 3 to 4 times longer than most typical kiln elements, a fact that has been proven in over ten years of producing DaVinci kilns.  There are three individual elements per 9" high section.

3" Hand Picked Firebrick
All DaVinci Production Kilns use 3" thick hand picked premium firebrick.  This is more energy efficient than 2 1/2" firebrick when doing soaks (although total energy usage is about the same a s2 1/2" brick if you just shut off kiln at final set points.  Also 3" brick allows for a slower natural cool down.  The shallow cut required by the unique Super 3000 Dyna Glow element holds makes brick even more efficient.

Brick hardened with Special Coating
The firebrick has a reflective ceramic coating.  This reduces dusting, aids brick life and increases efficiency and temperature uniformity because of improved radiation within kiln.

True Cone 10 design
They have a higher KW power rating (watts per radiating muffle inch) than almost any other ceramic kiln.  In addition bottom elements are available on larger models for even faster heat up and better control over cold spots in tightly packed kilns.  The heavy duty elements and high temperature elements holders are also a big plus for high fire use.

Square/Rectangular "Plus" Design:
Utilizing sound engineering principles, the "square plus" DaVinci design was created to provide a very stable square or rectangular structure.  It is far stronger than oval kiln designs where the front can cave in with too much pressure.  Loading of many types of ware is far more efficient in a square or rectangular kiln than a polygonal or oval kiln.  The extra "plus" space created by the slight arch in the sides helps natural convection inside the kiln without taking up valuable loading space.  This natural convection promotes even firing of ware.

Sectional Construction: Easy to move, set up and repair. Sections can be removed for easy loading of kiln.  You can move even the largest DaVinci kiln through a normal door. The sections are remarkable stable even when turned on edge because of the strong arch design. Sections plug into separate instrument box with flexible cords eliminating any plug to receptacle line up problems. It is easy to stack the sections and then, after the kiln is lined up to your satisfaction, you can plug the sections into the instrument box. This also makes it very easy to remove a section for loading the kiln. In fact, we design the counterbalanced hinge to be self supporting from the third section so that section four (on the 36" high kilns) and section five (on 45" high kilns) can be easily removed for loading. Handles are included on the sections.

Versatility of Size
DaVinci Production Kilns are sectionalized.  You can increase or decrease the size by adding or removing a section.  Save on electric bills for small loads yet have ample firing capacity.  Add capacity in the future.

Easy to Move and Set Up
Because the kilns come in 9" high sections, they can easily be moved and set up.  They can be moved through any standard 32" doorway because even the largest sections can be turned on their side.  There are four chest handles on each section.

Corrosion resistant case materials
Case is stainless steel.  Heavy welded angle iron stand will last life of kiln.  Stands have full plates of aluminized steel under the bottom brick.  This allows bottom brick to move freely while expanding and contracting.

MultiZone Control (automatic or manual)
Automatic kilns include Dynamic Zone Control for automatic adjustment of top to bottom temperatures.  Achieve better than 1/2 cone accuracy.  Manual kilns include Infinitely Variable Input Zone Switches (one for each section) which adjust thermal gradients to prevent uneven heating.  Use with our Tru-View multi-thermocouple system.  Manual kilns include pilot lights for each zone.  Automatic Dyna-Trol includes digital indicators.

Floor Mounted Detached Control Panel
The control panel is mounted on the floor away from kiln heat for more reliable operation.  (The photos do not show this).  Switches and sensitive components last longer.  Kiln sections plug into panel with flexible cords.  Panel can be easily sent for factory repair if ever necessary.

Power relays - Industrial Quality Wiring
All power is switched to the elements with power relays.   Zone switches last much longer.  Wiring connections are positive to stable components.  Each circuit is branch fused.  The instrument panel is well ventilated.

Counterbalanced "Easy Load" Lid System
The unique "Easy Load" spring loaded counterbalanced lid system provides several important advantages.  The lid can be opened with one hand by almost anyone.  Because the lid closes gently there is less wear and tear on the lid and lip and less chance of breaking the lid.  The hinge post is adjustable up and down.  This allows the hinge system to be adapted to your kiln if you add a section.  There is a safety catch to lock the lid in the up position.  The hinge and lid are attached to the bottom three sections.  You can remove the upper sections of 36" and 45" high models for easy kiln loading without dismantling the counterbalanced hinge or removing the lid.  The hinge system is very heavy duty, made of welded heavy structural steel, and will last the life of the kiln.

"Super 3000" Dyna Glow Element holders:
The element holders have a 3000 degree F ceramic body with silicon carbine which provides extremely high temperature resistance and superior heat transfer capability.  The large holder accommodates the large heavy duty element used in the DaVinci kilns.  It also makes element replacement easy.  Any number of element replacements will not affect the hard ceramic element holders or brick walls, unlike other kilns where elements are pinned into the soft firebrick grooves.  Brick interior stays "like new" for many years!  Dyna Glow element holders reflect the infrared heat instantly into the kiln and therefore operate at a lower temperature relative to the internal kiln temperature.  They require less firebrick insulation to be cut out.  This means L&L Kilns are more efficiently insulated than other kilns of this type.  Hard smooth surface allows the elements to expand and contract freely.  No loose particles will fall in the kiln and ruin ware.

DynaTrol automatic controller, with Dynamic Zone Control
Automatically provides accuracy of better than 1/2 a cone top to bottom.  It features an Easy-Fire cone fire mode, and a separate sophisticated "Vary-fire" programmer.  This allows you to have 6 separate repeatable storable programs with up to 8 segments (cooling and heating ramps, temperature setpoint and an optional hold time per segment.)  You can soak at a low temperature for a long time, and then automatically ramp up to your high fire at different rates.  It also allows a controlled cool down to avoid heat shock.  Dust sealed panel, delay start, "cone offset", temperature shows in F or C, automatic restart after brief power interruption, change of program during firing, program review, audible temperature alarm, segment review.

Detachable Instrument Panel  Stands off case - stays cool: The air space between the panel and kiln keeps components cool. Switches, controls and other sensitive components last longer. Panel can be sent to factory for repairs if ever necessary. All models have contactors and branch fusing and are a direct hook up to your power source. This is done to National Electrical Code and UL standards. All panels are floor mounted and include holes for mounting to floor.

Tru-View Pyrometer System allows you to see and adjust gradients
The Tru-View pyrometer system for manual kilns, with up to five thermocouples and a selector switch, allows you to "see" the temperature gradients in your kiln and adjust them out with the infinite zone switches.  It can also act as a check against your Dawson Kiln Sitter.  Pyrometer has a heavy duty bakelite casing with precision ALNICO magnetic mechanism.

Large One Inch Diameter Peepholes, one per section.

Reversible Bottom  The bottom can be reversed in case of a firing mishap.

STANDARD FEATURES ON MANUAL KILNS
DAWSON KILN SITTER/TIMER
INFINITE ZONE CONTROL: (Manual kilns only) Infinite zone control from top to bottom - allows you to even out the heat for perfect firing results. Pilot lights for each zone show which zones are firing. We recommend using this feature in conjunction with our TRU-VIEW pyrometer system.
PLUG IN CONTROL STILL AVAILABLE FOR EASY ADD ON: A simple plug connection is included which allows you to plug into the instrument panel and control the kiln with the single zone version of the Dyna-Trol Control. When you do this you use the Dawson Kiln Sitter/Timer as a back up control. The single zone Dyna-Trol can be unplugged at any time for full manual control of the kiln.

STANDARD FEATURES ON AUTOMATIC KILNS
DYNA-TROL PROGRAM CONTROL WITH DYNAMIC ZONE CONTROL: The automatic DaVinci kilns will fire to within better than 1/2 a cone top to bottom - automatically - with no manual adjustments. The DynaTrol features four “Easy Fire” factory preset programs and six separate “Vary Fire” programs that you control.
DYNATROL IS INTEGRAL PART OF KILN CONTROL: The new DynaTrol with “Dynamic Zone Control” replaces the manual switch instrument box. There is no Kiln Sitter/Timer or manual zone switches. On/Off switch, control fuse, branch element fuses, three thermocouples (for the the three zone control) and power contactors are all included. Operation of the kiln, including zone control for even firing, is completely automated. The kiln sections still plug into this new box with flexible power cords.
DYNAMIC ZONE CONTROL: "Dynamic Zone Control" automatically controls a top, middle and bottom zone. There are three separate thermocouples for precise measurement of zone temperatures. (Kiln will still fire with only one or two thermocouples). In three section kilns each section is one zone. In four and five section kilns the middle zone consists of two or three center sections. Accuracy is better than 1/2 cone top to bottom.
