The perfect way to try out a variety of bats at a great price.  Pack includes the following bats, all fitting the standard 10" spaced bat pins:

Speedball Bats (formerly Creative Industries)   

Made from injected molded plastic.  They are considered less susceptible to warping than other bats. 

Amaco Plasti-Bat       

Plasti-Bat was designed by studio potters to be a versatile, long-lasting, high-quality bat that is virtually indestructible.  Made of 1/4" -3/8" thick, very rigid, high impact plastic, they will provide continuous use, will not splinter, delaminate, swell or shrink.   Easy to clean and are impervious to water and most chemicals.  Has a non-absorbent, positive adherence surface so clay does not slide or turn loose while centering.   Note: All our wheels are sold with bat pins, which hold the bats in place. The majority of people buy drilled bats.  Even if someone has a wheel without bat pins, they can be normally be added.  It is not difficult to drill through the wheel head and add pins.

The Universal Insert Bat     

Saves a great amount of shelf space when making pieces with a small "footprint".   The outer bat is 1/2 inch thick Medex and the inserts are 1/4 inch Duron which fit flush with the top of the outer bat.  Inserts remove easily yet fit snugly enough that the cavity stays free of clay and slurry. (You may have to lightly sand the inserts on all four sides to achieve and maintain the best fit.  The bat materials absorb water water which can cause swelling of the wood.)

Northstar Blue Plastic Bats              

If you like the Plasti-bats but need a less expensive solution, this is the answer.  Blue plastic, matte both sides.  1/4" thick.  Sized to hang 1/2" over your wheel head for easy removal (use 13" size for 12" wheel head, and 15" size for a 14" wheel head.)  Drilled with 10" spacing.   If you want custom drilled plastic bats, we can get these blue plastic bats custom drilled by the manufacturer.  You have to order in full cases of 10 for this service.  A separate shipping charge for custom drilled bats will apply.  Email us if you have questions.  

Medex Bats                    

Wood product without formaldehyde, 3/8 inch thick. Handles clay like wood or Duron/Masonite. Water proof, no warping, extremely strong. Will not degrade like particle board. More expensive but PERMANENT.  Drilled with 10" spacing.  

Northstar Throwing Bats    

Duron - Often called "Masonite" is 1/4 inch thick, smooth on both sides, least expensive.   

Medex - Wood product without formaldehyde.  Handles clay like wood or Duron.  Water proof, no warping, extremely strong.  Will not degrade like particle board.  More expensive but PERMANENT.

Masonite:

WonderBats                    

WonderBats perform similar to plaster in that there is no need to wire-off your pot as it dries.  WonderBats are made from 1/2" thick material and thus resists warping, and are very durable.  All Wonderbats are drilled for standard 3/8" diameter pins on 10" centers, and now have reinforced grommets in the pin holes
