Shrink

When clay dries, it shrinks. How much? About 6 % from wet to
bone dry. Then about 6% more from bone dry to a final firing at
cone 10. So 12% would be the average, but it varies from about 10%
to 14% depending on your clay body and how it was thrown or rolled out.
With the Shrink Rule and a little experience,
you can size and plan for shrinkage when creating your wares. Get
the results you want!
