Egyptian Paste

In the excavated tombs of Egypt, archaeologists found turquoise scarobs, jewelry and small images of people and animals which had been formed of a soft plastic material.  AMACO ceramists have succeeded in duplicating this plastic medium and have named it AMACO Egyptian Paste.  

Like the original composition, this clay is a low fire, self-glazing body.  It is available in dry form only with complete directions.  Objects may be shaped by any hand method or pressed in molds.  When fired at Cone 06, the colors develop with a gloss and often times crackle finish. 

To prevent Egyptian paste from sticking to your kiln shelves, your best solution is to stilt it.  Alternately, you can wipe the glaze crystals from the back of the piece before firing.
