AMACO Gloss Glaze
|

Created with LG-53 Flame, LT-3 Old Pewter, and L-518
Lustre Gold
|
Bright Opaque and transparent colors
characterize this popular LG Gloss Glaze series. These glazes fire to a
smooth, glossy finish at a witness Cone 05. Always slow fire lead free
glazes for the best results. For a clear, all over covering glaze, you
have a choice of LG9 with lead or LG10 without lead. LG10 has a smooth
and high gloss surface. Make sure it reaches a mature witness Cone
05. You might apply it thinner than usual for best results. Two
coats are usually enough. LG9 is very forgiving in firing, but does
contain lead and precautions should be taken. Clear glaze can be used
over the Amaco LUG series, Velvet, and GDC Gloss Decorating
Colors. LG

All lead free except #9, 53, 56, 66. All
dinnerware safe except #27, 53, 56, 66. All are AP non-toxic
except 2, 9, 25, 26, 27, 44, 45, 46, 53, 56, 66.
LG #53, 56 and 66, are lead/cadmium red glazes.
Brilliant Red, Orange and Yellow glazes belong to a family of glazes which are
traditionally temperamental. To ensure good results, be very careful
that these glazes are not overfired. Their limit is Cone 06, preferably
by cone observation. Apply only to bisque. Apply heavily (twice as thick as
usual). Fire these
brilliant colors together, leaving space between pieces, avoid firing
with greens, fire quickly 3-4 hours with peepholes open, fire only to cone 06
as measured by a cone inside the kiln. It is best if you have a
vent, as these glazes need a lot of oxygen.
The new lead free reds and oranges are much less
finicky than the leaded ones. LG57, 58, 59, 63, 67 and 68: just apply 3
normal coats and fire to witness ,Cone 05, and Amaco swears they will come out
perfect! They are very bright and translucent.
