Frit Comparisons / Substitutions

These frit comparisons have been compiled from an accumulation of references provided to us by our suppliers. These references cover the last 25 to 30 years. Many of the frits are discontinued, but are often included in old glaze recipes that our customers are looking for. Many of the comparisons are between very similar frits from the same manufacturer vary from lot to lot. So, we provide this information only as a guide and an information source that can be used as a starting point for your glaze analysis or development.

There are a lot of new frits that do not appear on this list. Most manufacturers no longer publish frit formulations to avoid reproduction by competitors. Equivalents, in most cases, have not been established.
