Bentonite FAQ:
We get a lot of questions about our Bentonite, so
here is a list of Frequently Asked Questions, and their answers. But
first, our disclaimer.....
Generally speaking, we provide supplies to potters and ceramic
artists. Occasionally people in the cosmetic or health industries
buy our chemical products. We are delighted to get the orders, however, we sell
commercial grade chemicals/clays and we make no claims as to how they'll
perform for any of these uses.
Although we rarely switch sources of supply, we do not highly control
or specify the exact Bentonite that we carry. As a result, our
source of Bentonite may change in the future. Always test the
product you receive before investing time and/or money into them.
(Potters already know this, right?)
With that said, here is the FAQ:
 | Who manufactures the Bentonite clay you sell
on your site?
American Colloid Co.
|
 | What is the product name?
Western Bentonite.
|
 | Where is it mined?
We believe it is mined in Wyoming.
The manufacturer has not confirmed this yet.
|
 | What mesh is it?
We are reasonably sure it is 325 mesh.
The manufacturer has not confirmed this yet.
|
 | Is it "raw" (unheated)?
Yes, we are reasonably sure it is raw. The
manufacturer has not confirmed this yet.
|
 | How can I make sure I get the very same Bentonite
product I received in my last order from you?
Truthfully, you can't. As we say
above, we do not highly control our source of supply and it may change
from time to time. It's probably the same, but that's as far as
we'll go.
|
 | I read on another web site that you sell
pharmaceutical grade Bentonite. Is that true?
We really don't know, and we're not claiming it
to be. At some point we believe someone bought our Bentonite and
compared it to Bentonite they bought for pharmaceutical use. It probably seemed to be the same, thus the comment on other sites.
If you want to know more, please ask them.

 | Is the bentonite packaged in paper or plastic?
The bentonite comes to us in 50 lb paper bags, and is stored that way
until a customer places an order. When it is weighed into
smaller increments than 50 lbs, out it is transferred to plastic
bags. Orders of 50 lbs will be shipped in the paper bag.
